Many places in Rajasthan see sultry weather

On Sunday, Rajasthan experienced sultry weather with rising temperatures and humidity levels. Jaisalmer recorded the highest temperature at 38.9°C. From September 27, monsoon activity is expected in Jaipur, Ajmer, Kota, Udaipur, and Bharatpur divisions. However, monsoon withdrawal has already started in Jodhpur and Bikaner divisions.

JAIPUR: Most of the places in the state witnessed sultry weather on Sunday, with a rise in both maximum and minimum temperatures along with humidity levels.
An average rise of almost three degrees was observed in many parts of the state. Jaisalmer remained the hottest in the state where a maximum temperature of 38.9 degree Celsius was recorded, the Met reports said.

The Met office said that from Sept 27, monsoon activity is likely to be witnessed in some parts of Jaipur, Ajmer, Kota, Udaipur and Bharatpur divisions. However, in the rest of the places in Jodhpur and Bikaner divisions, the withdrawal of monsoon has already started. An officer said, “From Sept 27, only mild to moderate rainfall is likely to occur in some parts of Jaipur, Ajmer, Bharatpur, Kota and Udaipur divisions. Jaipur is likely to witness scattered showers.”
People in Jaipur woke up to a comparatively warmer morning when a minimum temperature of 26.7 degree Celsius, almost 2.6 degrees above the normal notch, was recorded. It was followed by a sultry afternoon when a maximum temperature of 35.6 degree Celsius with a humidity of 72% was witnessed. Though cloudy conditions were observed in and around Jaipur, no rainfall took place.
The Met office said that in some places, the withdrawal activities of the monsoon have already started. “Many places in Jodhpur and Bikaner divisions are already witnessing chilly winds in the morning, and the monsoon has started departing from these places,” said an officer. On Sunday, showers were witnessed in Udaipur division as Dungarpur recorded a rainfall of 37 mm, followed by Jhadol (16 mm).

The India Meteorological Department forecasts similar conditions until Tuesday, followed by light showers starting from the night of September 25. The city's air quality remains in the moderate category, recording an AQI of 164 on Sunday.
