2 dead in separate train accidents in Udupi district

Two individuals lost their lives in separate incidents after being struck by trains in Udupi. The first incident involved Nagesh from Abbiguddi, who was hit near the Hattiyangadi Railway Bridge. The second victim, Manjunath alias Mijira, was struck while walking along the railway track near Heranje Railway Gate.

UDUPI: Two persons lost their lives in separate incidents after being hit by trains. In a complaint, Kishan Kumar, a railway track maintainer from Basroor, stated that Loco Pilot Ankul M. of train number 16337 (Okha-Ernakulam) on Sunday stopped at Moodlakatte Railway Station at 4:20 PM and informed the station master that a man had been hit by the train near the 655/8 electric pole of the Hattiyangadi Railway Bridge in Hattiyangadi village.

Upon instructions from the station master, Kishan arrived at the location at 5:30 PM and discovered the body of a man on the eastern side of the railway track.
The deceased was identified by locals as Nagesh from Abbiguddi, suspected to have died due to severe head injuries after being hit by the train. A case has been registered at Kundapur Rural Police station.
Meanwhile, Shruthi, a resident of Uppoor Village in Brahmavar, in a complaint, stated that her father was accidentally hit by a train on Sunday.
The deceased is Manjunath alias Mijira, 65. She stated that the accident occurred after he had picked up a meal parcel from his sister’s house in Belmaru at around 5 PM.
While walking along the railway track, it is suspected that he was hit by a train between 5 PM and 7 PM near Heranje Railway Gate. A case has been registered at Brahmavar Police Station.
