Missing man’s body retrieved from Umiam
Shillong: The body of a man, who was reported missing from Laban locality in the city since September 19, was found floating in the Umiam (Barapani) lake on Saturday.
Police retrieved the body from the lake near Ladumroi, about 15km from Shillong.
The autopsy was conducted on Sunday.
Family members identified the deceased as Saumitra Chakraborty (48).
Investigation into the circumstances leading to his disappearance and subsequent death is under way.
