Check out his note here:
Speaking about his rapport with the senior actress, he wrote, “Writing this note in the pain of mother’s demise.
To my dear Ponnamma chechi, who has always given my character and me the love of a mother. We were mother and son to our beloved audience in Malayalam. No matter how much time passes, our films together, over the years, will echo the truth that that son is always a son to his mother. I never had to act as a son alongside Ponnammachechi; I was simply living. Kireedam, Bharatham, Vietnam Colony, Dasharatham, Natturajavu, Vadakkum Nathan, Kizhakkunarum pakshi, Oppam… films in which Ponnamma chechi embodied the essence of motherhood.”
Mohanlal also expressed that in real life,
Kaviyoor Ponnamma was similar to the character she played in 'His Highness Abdullah'. For the unversed, Kaviyoor Ponnamma’s character considers Mohanlal’s character as her own son in the film.
The superstar also expressed that Kaviyoor Ponnamma’s motherly affection will live forever in his heart.
