Lando Norris of Great Britain secured victory at the Singapore Grand Prix on Sunday, moving closer to the top of the Formula One drivers' standings. Norris, 24, won his third race of the season by finishing 20 seconds ahead of current leader Max Verstappen at the Marina Bay Street Circuit.
Norris' victory reduced Verstappen's lead to 52 points, with the standings now at 331-279.
His win also increased McLaren's lead in the constructor standings to 41 points over Red Bull, now at 516-475.
Starting from pole position, Norris maintained his lead throughout all 62 laps. Verstappen finished second, followed by Oscar Piastri (McLaren), George Russell (Mercedes), and Charles Leclerc (Ferrari).
The race saw Norris face minor issues, including locking his brakes and brushing the barriers, but he managed to continue without significant damage. After the race, Norris said, "It was an amazing race. A few too many close calls. I had a couple of little moments in the middle, but it was well controlled I think, otherwise."
Verstappen secured second place for Red Bull, successfully holding off Lewis Hamilton at the start. Piastri, who won in Azerbaijan last week, moved up from fifth on the grid to finish third.
The Formula One season has six races left, with the next four in Austin, Texas (Oct. 20), Mexico City (Oct. 27), Sao Paulo, Brazil (Nov. 3), and Las Vegas (Nov. 23), before finishing in Qatar (Dec. 1) and Abu Dhabi (Dec. 8). (Inputs from Reuters)
