Nunakkuzhi Movie Review : A satisfying comedy drama with brisk pacing

'Nunakuzhi' is a delightful comedy-drama that expertly navigates the turmoil unleashed by a single lie. Basil Joseph stars as Eby, who finds himself caught in a web of deceit while desperately trying to retrieve his laptop, which contains intimate recordings of him and his wife, from an income tax officer. His search leads him to Reshmita, played by Grace Antony, who is grappling with her own personal issues, including a contentious divorce and false accusations. As their paths cross, the film unfolds with a mix of comedy and drama.


Director Jeethu Joseph, traditionally known for his thrillers, brings a refreshing lightness to the film. The screenplay by KR Krishna Kumar excels in its situational comedy and intricate plot, which is complemented by a quirky background score and effective technical aspects, including Vinayak Shashikumar’s lyrics, Satheesh Kurup’s cinematography, Sinoy Joseph’s sound direction, and Liju Prabhakar’s color grading.


The film's brisk pacing and engaging performances from the actors make it stand out in the current Malayalam cinema landscape. Basil's portrayal of Eby is both engaging and relatable, while Grace's performance as Reshmita adds emotional depth to the narrative, highlighting her personal struggles amidst the unfolding chaos.
