Danka Hari Namacha Movie Review : Had all the makings of a hit, but leaves you confused

Critic's Rating: 2.0/5
Danka Hari Namacha has a colorful set of characters, picturesque locations and catchy songs. What it lacks is a compelling story and any semblance of character development.

Jana, Sunny and Bobby (Aniket Vishwasrao, Priyadarshan Jadhav and Kiran Gaikwad) set out to save the village temple from the clutches of Rao Raje (Sayaji Shinde), who wants to relocate the temple to build a brewery in its place. Their journey brings them to Goa where the story spirals into chaos.

The film suffers from an overload of unfulfilled plots. It introduces multiple characters, each with their interesting backstories and drops it in favour of a wild goose chase that jumps from one joke to another. While this has been a winning formula in the past, each joke lands square on its face and the ensuing silence is deafening.

What works in its favour is the cinematography, which makes it look beautiful. The art design is well done too. But the performances are passable. As well timed as the film is, this could have been a standout project had the creators focused on telling a compelling story.

This is an example of a film that had all the makings of a hit, but leaves you confused with its shaky foundation.

A very good film with complete masala and bhaktibhav towards our beloved vithuraya. Story is engaging with good character building and well direction which keep us hooked to find out how the idol is brought back from smugglers. Music and background score is 5/5. Ajay Gogawle and Jabed ali song is cherry on top. A overall good cinema experience
